About Us

From our mountains to your memories - Join us on unforgettable adventures

Welcome to our home. Dear Guests,

My name is Mit, and I am Indigenous Karen Hilltribe. I was born and raised here in the mountains of Northern Thailand, surrounded by the forests, rivers, villages, and people that I still call home and family today.

I started Ethnic Hilltribe Eco Trails because I wanted to share this home with people from around the world—not simply as a place to hike, but as a place to understand and experience.

For Karen people, nature is not something separate from us. We are part of it. The forest provides for us, teaches us, and has supported our families for generations. We grow food from the land, gather from the forest, learn from the changing seasons, and are taught from a young age that if we take care of nature, nature will take care of us.

When you trek with us, I want you to experience the jungle in the way that we do.

We will take you away from the usual tourist trails and walk through the forests and mountains that we have known since childhood. Our Karen guides—my brothers, family, and friends—will share their knowledge of the jungle with you, introduce you to people in our villages, and give you a chance to experience our culture as our honored guest.

You may walk small trails through the forest, cross rivers and streams, learn about plants and foods we find in the jungle, visit remote hilltribe villages, and sit together with local families. Every journey is a little different because the forest, the seasons, and village life are always changing.

This company also gives us a way to support the people and places we love. Tourism can provide meaningful work for our fellow Karen guides, support our families, and bring income directly into the hilltribe communities we bring you to visit. We believe tourism should benefit the people who live here while helping us protect the culture and natural environment that make our home so special.

When you join us, you are doing more than booking a trek. You are supporting local families and communities while giving us the opportunity to share our culture, our knowledge, and our home with you.

I hope you will come walk with us.

Let us show you the forests we grew up in, introduce you to our family and friends, and welcome you into our villages.

Our Guides

Experts in The Area

All the guides we choose to work with are indigenous Karen guides who have a deep knowledge of the rainforest and how to live in the mountains. Join them to completely immerse yourself and hike in the beauty of northern Thailand.

Supporting family run business and sustainable, responsible companies.

Through our treks and hilltribe experiences, we strive to empower ethnic hilltribe and local families, just like ours, as well as their communities. We achieve this by guiding our guests on immersive journeys into the jungle, where they can enjoy authentic experiences that promote sustainable and ethical tourism.

Our unwavering commitment is to give back to these indigenous families by exclusively collaborating with local drivers, guides, and porters. This approach not only strengthens the local economy but also fosters job creation and income generation for our Karen songtaew drivers. Moreover, our local guides and porters have the opportunity to undergo training with us, enabling them to acquire their tour guide licenses and further their professional growth.

Beyond leading off-the-beaten path journeys, we’re also passionate about sustainable tourism. We’ve seen first-hand how education and training can lift, not just families, but entire villages out of poverty, and we’re committed to providing tourism support and opportunities to our guides and partners.

Visit our unique Family farm-stay

In addition to our core initiatives, we have actively participated in the development of a family farmstay situated along the 2 Day Doi Inthanon Trail. This endeavor serves as a valuable source of support for the local Karen Hilltribe community, as we provide assistance through tourism and homestay training.

By promoting this farmstay, we contribute to the creation of new employment opportunities and offer an alternative income stream for both the younger and older generations, particularly during times when traditional farming may not be feasible.
